Power Factor Testing
Breakdown in insulation systems cause most failures of electrical equipment. Power Factor Testing identifies problems in electrical equipment insulation. Power Factor Testing of the insulation system allows PGTI to “see” the presence of poor insulation within your equipment. Then, we take corrective action, thus avoiding costly system failures and unplanned production downtime.
So, why PGTI?
PGTI examines a range of frequencies, testing from 15 HZ up to 400 HZ. Traditionally these tests are only conducted at 60 HZ. Testing frequencies matter because the insulation system’s power factor will vary with the application of a variety of frequencies. These measurements are graphed providing more information or “a fingerprint” which can then be used to compare to previous results.
