Maintenance Testing Case Study 3
Medium voltage jumper cable is routinely used between medium voltage switches and the primary of transformers. This cable should last a very long time and requires minimum maintenance. However, poor installation practices and damp conditions can cause early failure. This failure can be identified by white powdery decay components, metal rust and black “tracking” of the cable and the fiber insulating board. Once the breakdown begins to occur, the only fix is to replace the cable. In this example, PGTI was contacted to diagnose and fix the problem. We stock the cable and the required connectors for most applications.
